The Jungfrau is one of the main summits located in the Bernese Alps of Switzerland, and has become one of the most frequented places in the Alps. Tourism to the area boomed so much that in the early 20th century that a cog wheel railway was constructed to take passengers to the top and back down again with ease, and so was born the Jungfraujoch.
Trains trundle through the lush countryside south from Interlaken before coiling spectacularly up across either Wengen or Grindlewald's mountain pastures, breaking the tree line at Kleine Scheidegg and tunneling clean through the Eiger to emerge at the Jungfraujoch, an icy, windswept col at 3454m, just beneath the Jungfrau summit.
The Jungfraujoch is not included on any pass including Switzerland; however you are entitled to a discount of around 25% if you show your pass which includes Switzerland at the time of purchase.
To begin your Jungfraujoch journey, you will need to make your way to Interlaken by train, which is covered by any pass including Switzerland.
